General Paintout Information

This information will be available as handouts at check-in, in particular since cellular service is spotty in the Jemez area.  Please note that you will need your name tag at various venues.

The Paintout Calendar has details for the suggested Paintout Locations as well as dates for delivery and pickup of of paintings, etcetera. It also has the locations for daily check-in, packet/name tag issuance and stamping (marked * in each day's location). You may also see the Paintout Location information in the document, 2017 Spring Paintout and Show Locations with full terms v1.pdf   (which may be printed).

Name tags will be needed for various discounts and for the lunch (separate RSVP required). 

Reminder: Each artist will be allowed to enter one painting into the show (maximum size 14" x 18"). All painting surfaces must be stamped on the back ahead of time to be eligible for entry in the show.

  • Panel stamping: on each day at 8 am a scheduled site is marked * in the Paintout Calendar for panel stamping. Can also get artist packets and have the panels stamped at Jemez Fine Art Gallery, Jemez Springs, 11-5 except Tues.
  • CAUTION: observe all posted speed limits, and watch for animals and pedestrians on roadways. 
  • NO PHOTOS OR PAINTING on the Jemez reservation from 2 to 8 mile markers on Hwy 4, and up to the 3 mile marker on Hwy 290.  
  • Restrooms: See KEY in each Paintout Calendar date for restrooms noted RR or [RR}. Also rest stops with restrooms are located at mile markers, 13.9, and 13.1 (Vista Linda campground) on Hwy 4.  Convenience stores with customer’s restrooms are at mile markers 7 and 11 on Hwy 4.

HWY 4  

There are many rest stops/fishing access locations along Hwy 4 – V,M,C,R,S,  as well as cottonwood, juniper, cacti

Fenton Lake

 Take Hwy 126 to paint at Fenton Lake (8 mi).

CABEZON ROAD AND OJITO AREA:

high clearance or 4WD vehicles recommended.

VALLES CALDERA

Take Hwy 4 to paint at Valles Caldera (13 mi), and other roadside parking areas along the way such as Jemez Canyon Overlook, East Fork, Jemez Falls, etc.
